Point to Notice
About Japanese LettersIn Japan, three type letters are used. First one is Kanji that is ideogram came from Chaina. Second is Hiragana that is phonogram, and used mainly as suffix for changing the style of Kanji's application[adjective, adverb, objective, complement or etc]. Third is Katakana that is phonogram too, and used for translation from foreign language to Japanese word, only picking out the sound from original language.
About Name Translation
For translating English name to Japanese, Katakana is commonly used. But in pronunciation, even Katakana can not match up with original words closely, because Japanese has only 5 vowel sounds and about 14 consonants. Popular english names(example : names of international actors, artists, athletes, presidents and etc.) were already translated as Katakana by mass media. So I can translate such popular names easily. But if the name you want me to translate is not such popular in Japan, it will not easy to do.
